Of hot dogs, sweet potatoe pie, summer rain and 4th of July

Of all the holidays, I think our Inverness Oldetowne 4th of July celebration is one of the most fun events. We all come together with joy in our hearts. There is excitement in the air.  Young and old alike are all a twitter in anticipation of family picnics, fresh air, meeting up with old friends, and let's not forget; the fireworks!

This past 4th of July was no exception.  Hundreds turned out for an evening of unexcelled entertainment.  We had music, games, food vendors (ummm, Alida's Sweet potatoe pie, yum!).  The crowd  was a wonderful cross section of the core of the US family.  We had kids of all ages from new babies to teens, young families and retired folks - the very backbone of what makes our little corner of this great nation such a great place to live.

And just as the fireworks were about to start, a typical tropical cloud burst popped up and gave us all a good cooling down.  The DJ played rain songs, the adults all had a good laugh as they sang along and hugged their umbrellas closer. The children in wild abandon, danced in the rain.  Soon enough, the fireworks commenced and topped off the evening in brilliant traditional fashion.

You know, you just have to love this town!
